Windows Server 2025 Hotpatch readiness and adoption toolkit

Download read-only PowerShell assessment scripts, offline HTML fleet reports, before/after evidence comparison, Azure Resource Graph queries and an adoption register.

    Product versions tested
    • Windows Server 2025 Standard and Datacenter
    • PowerShell 5.1 and 7
    • Azure Arc-enabled servers
    Limitations
Local prerequisite assessment only. No Azure enrolment, current baseline, patch compliance or application health verdict. Synthetic examples and offline tests are not Windows Server 2025 integration evidence.
    • Windows Server
    • Azure Arc
    • PowerShell
    • Hotpatch

    What this toolkit provides

Use the complete visual deployment guide for the architecture, official portal screenshots, baseline planning and evidence requirements.

The ZIP includes three runnable PowerShell scripts, a shared module, standalone example reports, three Azure Resource Graph queries and a CSV adoption register.

    • Test-HotpatchReadiness.ps1 reads local prerequisites and writes JSON, CSV and HTML.
    • Merge-HotpatchReports.ps1 builds an offline fleet report from collected JSON.
    • Compare-HotpatchEvidence.ps1 compares one server’s before/after snapshots against an approved KB.
    • Hotpatch.Readiness.psm1 contains the decision and HTML rendering functions.

    Inspect before execution

Read the instructions and check the file manifest. The scripts are unsigned community tools; use your own review and signing process. Do not bypass execution policy.

    Preview the output

Open the synthetic HTML example. It contains fabricated server inputs and does not prove a deployment. Real reports remain on your computer and should stay inside your organisation.

    Requirements and interpretation

Run the collector locally on Windows in a 64-bit PowerShell 5.1 or 7 process. Reading Secure Boot and some CIM classes may need elevation.

“Ready for Azure validation” means the seven implemented local checks passed. Confirm cloud enrolment, current baseline, update applicability and workload behaviour separately. The collector changes no server configuration, does not scan Windows Update, installs no patches and performs no Azure login.

    Reuse and support

Collector source and shared module are available for inspection and improvement. The original community toolkit code is provided under the MIT licence. It is not a Microsoft support tool or a certification of readiness.
